MEDICARE AND THE ACA

I’m on Medicare due to my disability (Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease). I found it utterly useless the first year as it has a premium, a co-pay, and a deductible. I watched the premiums come out of my Disability check, but I simply couldn’t afford to use it.

Then, I switched to an Advantage plan and have been very happy with it.

OBAMA-CARE… The Affordable Care Act is, frankly, not very affordable for those who need it most. And the assorted deductibles, co-pays, and premiums mean many poor people can’t afford to use it.

As the father of a Type 1 Diabetic, I know how important it is for insulin to be affordable. It’s a matter of life and death.

And so it is with many other medicines, surgeries, and procedures. Every American citizen deserves world class medical care without losing their home, their retirement, or their dignity.

I support universal healthcare and it should include dental, vision, hearing, and reproductive health.

Medicare For All would supposedly save $450 billion in health care costs and 68,000 lives per year. I’m not sure I buy those numbers (from Bernie Sanders) as many are fleeing Medicare for private Advantage Plans, and those who stay still need private “MediGap” coverage. Things Medicare doesn’t bother to inform us of when we apply.

Medicare sucks. It needs to be completely overhauled.
