RIDERS ON THE STORM

I oppose unrelated riders on bills. Both houses (especially the Senate) like to pin pet issues onto popular bills. For example, a Net Neutrality rider was stapled onto a bill for veteran construction projects.

Predictably, Republicans accused Democrats of not voting for a key veterans bill. But the truth is they opposed the dangerous Net Neutrality rider.

A Christmas Tree bill is one that gets decorated with multiple unrelated riders right before Winter break when Congress critters are more likely to pass bills with riders they haven’t read so that they can go home for the holidays.

I oppose these riders. I will blow the whistle on every one that lands on my desk. And just to make Washington squirm, I’ll attach a rider outlawing non-contextual riders on every bill I can until we put an end to this dishonest and manipulative skullfuckery.
